Philemon 6 revisited
This week I re-discovered a series of sermons that Doug Moo gave at College Church on the book of Philemon. They can be found here. They are in the archives for April 20, 2008. I was pleased to notice that Moo came to similar conclusions about the meaning of v. 6.
I’ve been trying to come up with a more dynamic equivalency translation of v. 6. Here’s what I have so far.
“My prayer is that you would be active in the partnership that comes from your faith as you begin to understand all the good things that we can do for the sake of Christ.”
Or here’s another alternative.
“My prayer is that our mutual relationship, which comes from your faith, might be effective in deepening your understanding of all the good things that we can do for Christ.”
