Beautiful Feet (Romans 10)
What does Isaiah 52 mean to our world today? How is this text relevant to us living in the 21st century? What does this message of good news mean to your neighbors, your friends and family, and the random people you run across from day to day?
I think that if we had to answer truthfully, I think we would have to say that it means nothing to them. Most people have no clue that Jesus is God reigning or that Jesus is God returning and redeeming his people. How can this mean anything to them, if they’ve never believe it? And how can they believe it if they’ve never heard it? And how can they ever hear it unless someone preaches it to them? And how can someone preach it to them unless they are sent?
This, of course, brings us to Romans 10:14-15, where Paul quotes Isaiah 52:7.
As it is written, how beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!
Notice how he takes the single solitary messenger of Isaiah 52 and puts it in the plural. Instead of just one person running on the hills toward Jerusalem, we have a whole host of people heading throughout the world to tell the story of Jesus.
